What is GSM?
GSM, Global System for Mobile Communications, is the most widely used standard for mobile phone networks worldwide. It is an open, non-proprietary system, and its success has been the basis of the global explosion in mobile communications over the past two decades.

Why does ITS use open international standards for its networks?
ITS uses GPS, GSM and Internet protocols because these are the most widespread worldwide, and the easiest to use, maintain and develop. They also allow the greatest reliability and the most efficient service maintenance.

Are ITS networks already in use anywhere in the world?
